At
Akitas CAS, a small Akita kennel near Atlanta, Georgia, we are
striving to produce only Akitas that would be a joy to own and a
valuable asset to any family.
We fell in love with the breed in 1975 - and have NO interest
in producing anything less than what we first fell in love with: a
regal, intelligent, and kind dog - majestic to look at, loyal beyond
question to his family members, and intelligent enough to
instinctively know the difference between a threat and a
non-threat. A thinking
dog with power! |

We
strongly believe that any Akita that would consider a child to be a
threat does NOT HAVE a proper Akita temperament and should never be
bred. We also know that
a proper Akita would never back down from a threat, and for this
reason he is NOT a dog for every family. While proper temperaments
are always our first consideration, we also strive to produce only
Akitas of magnificent structure and bearing - a dog that will
inspire awe. We have no
interest in producing anything mediocre.
We
have owned Akitas as part of our family consistently since 1975, but
we did not start competing in AKC conformation competition with our
Akitas until the early '90s.
Since then our dogs have won such coveted titles as: BEST IN
SHOW - SPECIALTY BEST IN SHOW - BEST IN SWEEPSTAKES - and include
multiple Group winning and Group Placing Akitas. We have produced over
50 AKC champions and many dogs that have placed in national and
regional Akita specialty competitions. You can read more about
the story of our dogs at The Dog Place.org - OUR
BREEDING PROGRAM
If
you are interested in adding a dog to your life AND if you are
willing to answer questions concerning your commitment, our email
address is akitascas@mindspring.com
If you are considering adding an Akita to your home, please consider
adopting. Too many Akitas are dying in shelters because they
were bred or owned by irresponsible people who do not care.
It's a tragedy that the dogs have to pay the ultimate price - so
PLEASE consider adopting. The rescue contacts in the Southeast
USA are Dorie Sparkman of Akita
Rescue Society of Florida, and Dr. Rachel Peeples, D.V.M. of Heart
of Dixie Rescue.
We would also like to recognize and give
thanks to the special people in our lives that have done what they
said, and whose words means something to them. These people
are Don Cross, Dozak Akitas, Kim Nisbet of Eudora
Akitas, James Taylor, Serge DesForge, Andy and
Sheena Clark, Anshee Akitas, our mentor and friends Mr. and Mrs. Bill
Andrews, TheDogPlace.org,
Terry Norman, Jennifer and Richard Short of Taboo
Akitas ,
and Ronnie and Chris Ann Moore of Shinto
Akitas. We also want to thank the many special people who have
shared their lives with our beloved dogs - companions OR show
quality, who mean so much to us. Getting here was hard work -
but the cards that you send telling us how much the dog means to
your family, and the photos we get from you make it all worth
it. Thank you very much for sharing a part of our lives, and thank
you for taking the time to look around our website.
